Dabur, a major player in the consumer goods industry, ranked seventh on The CSR Journal’s list of top CSR companies in India for 2023. This recognition highlights Dabur's long-standing commitment to improving the communities it serves, rooted in the ideals of its founder, Dr. S.K. Burman, who believed in helping others.

CSR Program of Dabur in FY 2023-24

Dabur’s CSR activities are built around the company’s core values of fairness and community support, focusing on health, nutrition, education, and protecting the environment. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Dabur carried out several important initiatives:

Swasthya Aur Suraksha (Health and Safety):

This program aims to improve the health and safety of underprivileged girls. It includes teaching them about healthy eating, starting kitchen gardens, organizing health camps, and providing self-defense training.

Project Poshan:

This project tackles malnutrition and health issues among young children in city slums. It focuses on teaching about good nutrition and provides healthy food, with special attention to teaching girls about menstrual hygiene.

Dabur has also worked with the Madari community, helping improve their lives through nutrition education, safety workshops, and providing access to healthy food with the help of partners like the Dev Excel Foundation.

In sanitation, the "700 Se 7 Kadam" initiative aims to provide clean sanitation facilities in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh by building toilets and educating people on maintaining hygiene.

Additionally, Dabur's dedication to healthcare is evident through its organization of over 1,450 General Health Camps and 2,634 Disease-Specific Health Camps across India.

These camps provide free traditional medicine consultations, screenings, and medicines, helping thousands of people stay healthy. The company also celebrated the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav by organizing 750 major health camps with the theme ‘Azad Bharat: Arogya Bharat’.

In partnership with the Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHIF), Dabur supports efforts to prevent, diagnose, and treat head injuries, including providing first aid training and rehabilitation services in Jodhpur.

Future Plans for 2024-25

For 2024-25, Dabur plans to broaden its CSR initiatives to have a greater impact. The company intends to:

  • Broaden Project Poshan to reach more children and include more health services.

  • Extend the "700 Se 7 Kadam" sanitation project to additional areas, using advanced technology for water purification and waste management.

  • Start new projects aimed at using renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions to support global environmental goals.

Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

CSR Program of Dabur align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its health and nutrition programs support SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). Sanitation and water projects contribute to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and educational projects support SDG 4 (Quality Education).

Additionally, Dabur’s efforts to protect the environment support SDG 13 (Climate Action), and its work empowering women and girls helps achieve SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

Dabur’s approach to CSR not only shows its commitment to social responsibility but also integrates these efforts into the company’s broader strategy. As Dabur continues to develop its CSR activities, it is focused on creating significant and lasting improvements that contribute to a healthier, more just, and environmentally sustainable world.
